Why Having A No Credit History Can Hold You BackBelieve it or not but even in this day and age with all of the countless advertisements for credit cards, low interest mortgage loans, and quick and easy car loans from the dealers, it is truly amazing that there is anyone out there with no credit—but, in fact, there are many people who still have no credit history. Maybe they missed the first opportunity for personal credit by not enrolling in a credit card when they turned eighteen or maybe they decided that they did not want to pay for anything they could not afford to pay for with cash – but whatever the reason, these people quickly found themselves in a world governed by credit without any credit history to speak of. Having no credit history used to be a pretty good thing. It meant that you had a lot of money and you did not need to charge the items that you purchased. These days though, it is hard to purchase anything without having to go into debt at least a little bit – making it that much more difficult for those people with no credit history. You see, while you may not think that there is a problem with having no credit history, most of the credit and lending agencies classify having no credit history the same as having a bad credit history. Because a person’s credit history is the primary determining factor in helping lending agencies figure out what kind of interest rates to charge a person, someone with no credit history is treated as an unknown. Credit card companies do not like not knowing whether or not a person will default on their loans, so they simply give people with no credit history a higher interest rate in hopes that the company will at least recoup some of their losses, should the person with no credit history not pay back his loan. So, as rediculous as it may sound having some form of credit card can be a blessing in disguise.
